Hardscapes
that inspire
At Castano Design Build, we understand the true purpose behind your landscape and hardscape project. You dream of walking outside your home and entering your own personal paradise.
Hello...
backyard haven.
Flawless hardscaping doesn’t simply give you usable outdoor space. When executed correctly, your hardscape installation should provide you with a livable extension to your home. A new gathering space, a second kitchen, a tranquil meditation zone… anything is possible with the right landscape design.
Fire Features:
Fire Pits and Outdoor Fireplaces
Whether you’re looking for a wood burning or gas fire feature, Castano Design Build is ready to construct your dream gathering place.
Fire Pits versus Outdoor Fireplaces
In the Charlotte, North Carolina area, your usable outdoor space may be more limited. That’s why it’s so important to choose your design carefully. Fire pits have a campfire-like setting, can be any size or shape, and can increase the functionality of the space. However, an outdoor fireplace also has it’s perks: as the perfect intimate setting, it can provide an ultimate living space, can provide privacy from your neighbors, and can block the wind and sun from your backyard paradise.
Wood Burning or Gas Fire Features
You have some options when utilizing a fire feature. From choosing a classic, wood burning system, to a gas system, or even a wood burning system including a gas starter: your design and aesthetic will be beautifully mastered by Castano Design Build.
Pair your custom fire feature with a surrounding retaining seat wall, and never have to worry about patio furniture again.
Budgeting for your fire feature
Your backyard renovation budget is an important factor when it comes to choosing the right fire feature. As this feature will most likely be the focal point of your build, it’s important to decide how much of your budget should be allocated toward this element. Typically, a fire pit will provide you with a hand-crafted look on a more modest budget; whereas an outdoor fireplace will be a more costly affair, ranging most commonly from $5-25,000.
Outdoor Kitchens
An Outdoor Kitchen isn’t just a second kitchen. This project is the new heart of your home. As they say, “nothing brings people together like good food.”
The Practical Outdoor Kitchen Elements
At Castano Design Build, we’ll make sure you’re aware of all your options in building your dream kitchen. We understand the intricacies of creating a totally usable space: running water to your sink, electricity for outdoor lighting, and gas for your appliances. We even know our way around high-end pizza ovens, so you’ll be absolutely astounded with your final kitchen reveal.

Paver Patios & Paver Walkways
Your Paver Patio and Paver Walkways should be a fluid and welcoming extension of your home.
Paver Products That Weather The Elements
Your investment isn’t just for a season. Your hardscape construction should last the lifetime of your home. With durable and stylish products, Castano Design Build will utilize interlocking concrete pavers by Belgard®, as a guaranteed and authorized contractor. We choose Belgard® due to their lifetime product warranty, paired with ultimate elegance and varieties. Want to see how beautiful paver patios can be? Check out the 2022 HGTV Dream Home outdoor living space, built with Belgard® products.
Paver Patio Installation
While paver installation may take longer than pouring a simple concrete patio, the benefits of paver products are clear. Pavers are durable and long-lasting, and better suited for areas like Charlotte, NC, where varying climates and seasons-changes can greatly affect ground temperature. In addition, with continuous developments in paver products (like the perfection of polymer sand for joint connections), Castano Design Build can also eliminate nearly 95-98% of potential, future weed growth between the paver joints.
Low Maintenance Patios and Walkways
Like anything within or outside your home, installations will require future maintenance. While a concrete slab may seem like an easy, initial install, any future repairs could mean replacing the slab entirely, to keep the seamless look. However, because concrete pavers are created with smaller, intricate and interlocking pieces, repairs on—or under—the patio/walkway are much easier to perform. Additionally, upkeep of a paver patio is typically minimal, including regular sweeping and leaf blowing, with most stains easily removed with soap and water.
Retaining Walls & Wall Seats
Remove the need for expensive and less-durable patio furniture with a permanent seated fixture within your hardscape design.
Why Add a Retaining Wall?
Whether you’re looking to create additional higher, usable space, or looking to correct erosion issues, Castano Design Build can construct clear, beautiful elements to prevent erosion, control slops and drop-offs, and increase aesthetic appeal. Your wall system will create new levels of interest and refinement, and compliment the architectural design of your home. Check out some of our style options, here.
Include a Peaceful Water Feature
Retaining Walls don’t simply serve a practical use, at Castano Design Build, we will integrate your system into an artistically crafted focal point of your backyard paradise. To take it a step farther, let’s add depth to your design, by implementing a water feature within your retaining wall. The sight and sound of water has been proven to provide therapeutic benefits, such as: increased wellness, increased blood flow, and the induction of relaxation (as proven by the National Academy of Sciences).
